In our fast-paced lives, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be a challenge. To help you on your journey to better health, Samsung Food has integrated with Samsung Health. Here’s what it means for you.
Samsung Health Integration
Samsung Food now seamlessly integrates with Samsung Health, a comprehensive health and fitness platform. This integration allows Samsung Food to access key health metrics and activity data, used to offer personalised meal planning, nutrition targets, meal recommendations, and recipe suggestions.
- Personalized Meal Planning: By analyzing your health data, Samsung Food can create personalized meal plans tailored to your specific needs. Factors such as your activity level, dietary preferences, and health data (weight, height, sex, year of birth) are taken into account to provide you with meal suggestions that align with your unique requirements.
- Nutrition Targets: Setting nutrition targets is crucial for achieving health goals. Samsung Food uses data from Samsung Health to establish personalized nutrition targets, helping you maintain a balanced and nutritious diet.
- Meal Recommendations: Based on your health profile, Samsung Food generates meal recommendations that not only meet your nutritional needs but also align with your taste preferences. This feature aims to make healthy eating more enjoyable, accessible and sustainable.
In the world of health and wellness, Samsung Food (SF) is taking a leap forward by integrating exercise data from Samsung Health (SH) to redefine how we approach personalized nutrition. This initiative aims to utilize exercise data to determine users' activity levels, providing more accurate and tailored recipe recommendations and plans.
Activity levels are determined based on daily and weekly steps, as well as workout intensity. The activity levels are categorized as Not Active, Light Activity, Moderately Active, Very Active, and Heavy Active, each with its corresponding coefficient for physical activity. To ensure accuracy, we’ve created our activity guidelines based on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. We will consider either daily steps or combined steps and workout data to define the user's activity level. Here are some details on how we do it:
-
Steps Only:
- Users can achieve activity levels by meeting daily step goals.
- If a user falls short of the daily step goal on some days they can still achieve the desired activity level by taking more steps other days and achieving daily average steps suitable for activity level.
- The system will reevaluate the activity level every two weeks based on the steps recorded by Samsung Health.
-
Steps + Workouts:
- In our guidelines, we’ve created parameters on how a user’s physical activity will be determined when both daily exercise and steps are combined.
- Similar to the steps-only approach, the system will reevaluate every two weeks based on recorded data.
Why Does it Matter?
By leveraging SH's detailed exercise data, SF can now offer users more personalized and accurate plans, considering not just the quantity of activity but also its intensity. This holistic approach aligns with contemporary health guidelines and ensures that SF users receive recommendations tailored to their actual lifestyle.
Samsung Food's integration of Samsung Health exercise data shows how invested we are in aiming to provide personalized nutrition to our users. This innovative approach will not only refine activity level definitions but will also empower users to make healthier choices aligned with their unique lifestyles. Get ready to experience nutrition that truly understands you!
