There are a number of reasons why you may experience a problem with saving a recipe from a recipe site to Samsung Food. They generally fall into two categories:
- Samsung Food Content Policy and automated moderation
- Recipe formatting on recipe site
Samsung Food Content Policy
If you're having issues with your recipes not saving or posting, your recipe may be in violation of our content policy or the software we use to detect content policy violations may have flagged your recipe in error. In this scenario this message is usually shown: "Recipe is flagged and under review" or "This recipe must have accurate content. Try editing the image or text."
What to do
First confirm that your recipe is not in violation of our terms.
If you are confident it is not, then it is likely that our automated spam detection software has incorrectly flagged your recipe. Although it is a high-quality tool, on occasion, it does have errors.
When a recipe is flagged it means that the flagged content was sent to our team's queue for review. While a recipe is flagged, you will not be able to share it or add it to any community but it will still be visible in their recipe box. The Samsung Food Team monitors the queue daily and they should get to your recipe quickly. Once they review and approve your recipe, the message will be gone and you’ll be able to once again share the recipe and add it to communities.
Recipe Formatting Issues On Source Site
When you save a recipe, Samsung Food tries to automatically detect and parse the recipe content on the page. At a minimum, our parsers must be able to identify the recipe name and recipe ingredients.
99% of recipe sites use industry-standard micro-formats to format their recipes. Google requires these formats for SEO, for example. For the small % of sites that do not use micro-formats, Samsung Food will be unable to parse and save the recipe. Samsung Food supports a few different industry-standard micro-formats including hRecipe and Schema.org/recipe.
A far less common reason for saving issues is when ingredients are written in a highly non-typical manner. Samsung Food’s detection and parsing capabilities have been perfected over 10+ years. This is why you can easily save almost any recipe site no matter how the recipe is written. Occasionally there are sites where we do have issues.
You can use Samsung Food's content validator to check if recipes are immediately understood by Samsung Food.
What to do
You should reach out to your favorite sites and tell them to use industry-standard formatting on their recipes! There are many benefits in it for them: search engines will more easily understand their content and they could see significant SEO benefits. You can point them to our Recipe Formatting Best Practices article or have them reach out to Samsung Food for help.
Even if a recipe can't be saved automatically, you'll still be able to copy and paste the details into the Samsung Food’s Recipe Builder and save it manually. You can copy and paste all of the ingredients at once rather than one at a time to make saving a recipe super easy.
If you feel like your recipe saving issue is not related to any of the above, please contact our support team with the URL of the recipe you are trying to save and we will look into it.
